How to use the Online Text Editor
- 1 Type or paste your text, or click Open from device to edit an existing .txt, .md, .csv or .json file.
- 2 Your draft is kept in this browser while you work. Click Download to save the text as a file on your device.
- 3 Optional: sign in (free, no password) and click Save to keep the document in My files. Open it later from any device with Open from My files.
A plain text editor that works everywhere
This editor works with plain text: no fonts, colours or hidden formatting, just characters. That makes it the right tool for notes, to-do lists, configuration files, CSV and JSON data, README files and Markdown drafts. Everything you type is saved as a draft in your browser, so a closed tab or an accidental reload does not lose your work.
Open, edit and download files
Use Open from device to load a text file from your computer or phone, edit it, and click Download to save the result. Files are read by your browser; nothing is uploaded. The editor reads and writes UTF-8, the encoding used by almost every modern text file and website, so accented letters, emoji and other scripts are preserved.
Save documents in your account
With a free Synsi account you can also click Save to keep a document in My files: a private folder per account where you can organise files in folders, rename them, download them again, or delete them for good. Open the same document later on your phone, laptop or a work computer. Files are private: only you can open them, and they are never shown on a public web address. Free accounts have 100 MB of space; one document can be up to 10 MB.
If you edit the same document on two devices, the editor notices when you save and asks whether to overwrite, keep both as a copy or load the saved version, so you never lose changes without being asked.
Good to know
- A draft is not a backup. The draft lives in your browser; clearing site data removes it. Download the text or save it to My files to keep it.
- Size. The editor handles up to 1,000,000 characters per document.
- File types. .txt, .md (Markdown), .csv, .json and .log files can be opened and saved. The editor does not format or validate them – use the JSON formatter for JSON.
- Line endings. Windows (CRLF) and Unix (LF) line endings are kept as they are.

Frequently asked questions
Is my text uploaded?
No. Your draft stays in your browser. Text is only sent to Synsi if you are signed in and click Save to store it in My files.
Do I need an account?
No. You can write, open files from your device and download the text without one. An account (free, sign in with an emailed link) adds saving documents online.
How much can I save?
Free accounts have 100 MB in My files, with up to 10 MB per file and 1,000 files. Deleted files give their space back immediately.
Can other people see my saved files?
No. Files in My files are private to your account and are not available on any public address. Deleting a file removes it permanently.
Which file types can I save?
Plain-text files: .txt, .md, .csv, .json and .log, saved as UTF-8.
