How to use the Social Media Preview
- 1 Paste the public URL of the page you want to check.
- 2 Select Preview link to fetch the page’s social metadata.
- 3 Review the title, description and image shown in the link card.
Preview a link before sharing it
When you share a web page in a social post or message, the platform may build a link card from the page’s metadata. This Open Graph preview tool fetches a public page and displays its title, description and preview image in a sample social post card.
Which metadata does it check?
The viewer reads Open Graph properties such as og:title, og:description, og:image and og:site_name, along with Twitter Card title, description and image tags. If those tags are missing, it falls back to the page title and standard meta description when available. Platforms can interpret tags differently, so the result is an approximation of the shared link preview.
Check the details that shape your card
Use the preview to spot a missing or outdated image, a title that is cut off, or a description that does not explain the page. Update the metadata on your site and check the URL again. Some platforms cache link previews, so a change to your page may not appear immediately in every app.
Public pages only
The page must be publicly reachable over HTTP or HTTPS and return HTML. Local addresses, private network hosts and non-standard ports are blocked. Pages that require sign-in, block automated requests or do not return social metadata may not produce a complete preview. The requested page and its preview image are fetched by the server to create the result.
Frequently asked questions
What is an Open Graph preview?
It is a sample of the link card that can appear when a page is shared. It uses metadata from the page, including its title, description and image.
Why is the preview image missing?
The page may not define an og:image or Twitter Card image, the image may be unavailable, or it may use an unsupported image format.
Will every social platform show this exact preview?
Not necessarily. Platforms can apply different layouts, image crops, character limits and caching rules. This viewer shows a general link-card approximation.
Can I preview a private or localhost page?
No. The viewer only fetches publicly reachable HTTP or HTTPS pages and blocks private and local network addresses.
