How to use the Dutch Passport Photo
- 1 Choose the country and the document, then open a photo – a straight-on portrait in even light, ideally on a plain wall.
- 2 Click the top of the head and the bottom of the chin. The editor sizes and places the photo; drag, zoom or straighten it to fine-tune and watch the checks.
- 3 Download the single photo, or pick a paper size and download a print sheet (PDF or JPG) with as many copies as fit.
What the Netherlands asks for
A photo for a passport and ID card in the Netherlands is 35 × 45 mm, with the head – from chin to crown – 26–30 mm tall, in front of a light grey, light blue or white background. The Dutch rules ask for a minimum of 400 dpi when the photo is printed.
The editor above is set to these numbers. Click the top of the head and the chin; it sizes and places the photo so the head fills the right part of the frame, then checks the result and lays copies out on a 10 × 15 cm sheet (or another paper size) for printing.
Before you print or upload
Rules change and offices can be strict, so compare the result with the official guidance: Government of the Netherlands – requirements for photos.
