What is a cover grid?
A cover grid is a picture made of cover art or posters in rows and columns – your top 9 games of the year, ten movies you can watch again and again, or a quick way to show what you are playing and watching. Grids like this are popular on social media because anyone can read them at a glance.
How the Cover Grid Maker works
Search a game or a movie, add its cover with one click and rearrange the grid until it looks right. You choose the number of columns and rows (up to 10 × 10), a title, a light or dark background and whether the titles are shown under the covers. The picture is drawn in your browser, so downloading it is instant and the grid itself is not uploaded anywhere unless you are signed in and save it to your account.
Export and share
- Image – download the grid as PNG, JPG or WebP. On phones, Share image opens the share sheet with the picture attached.
- Link – copy a link that opens the same grid for anyone. Social networks do not take an image from a link, so for a post download the picture and attach it.
- Data – export the list as text, Markdown, CSV or JSON, for example to paste into a forum post or a spreadsheet.
Save your grids
Without an account your grids stay in this browser. When you are signed in they are also saved in your account, so they follow you to your other devices – you can turn that off in Sync settings. Each grid is its own copy of the tool: start more grids with New grid.
Where the covers come from
Games are searched in the Retrollect games catalogue, whose data originates from IGDB. Movies come from The Movie Database (TMDB). Cover art and posters belong to their owners; this tool is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

Frequently asked questions
How do I make a grid of my favourite games or movies?
Choose Games or Movies, search for a title and click a result to add its cover. Repeat until the grid is full, set its size and title, then download it as an image.
What sizes can a grid be?
Anything from 1 × 1 to 10 × 10. 3 × 3 is the classic “top 9”; larger grids fit a top 25 or a whole collection. Changing the size keeps your covers in order.
How do I rearrange the covers?
Drag a cover onto another to swap them, or select a cover and use Move earlier and Move later – that also works with a keyboard or on a phone.
Can I share my grid on social media?
Download the image and attach it to your post, or on a phone use Share image. Quick-share buttons for X, Bluesky, Facebook, Reddit and WhatsApp add a link that opens your grid for others.
Are my grids saved?
In your browser, always. When you sign in they are also saved in your account and appear on your other devices. You can turn this off in Sync settings, which removes them from your account again.
Which formats can I export?
PNG, JPG and WebP for the picture, and text, Markdown, CSV and JSON for the list of titles.
Is the data from TMDB and Retrollect free to use here?
Yes. Searching and adding covers is free. Posters and cover art belong to their owners and are shown for your personal grid; this product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
