How to use the PNG to JPG
- 1 Choose the output format (JPG, PNG or WebP) and, for JPG and WebP, the quality.
- 2 Optionally make the images smaller: after you add an image, its width and height are filled in – lower one and the other follows to keep the aspect ratio.
- 3 Drop your images on the page and download them one by one or all at once as a ZIP file.
Why convert PNG to JPG?
Photos saved as PNG are often 5–10 times larger than necessary. Converting them to JPG makes them much easier to email, upload or share, and many websites and forms only accept JPG.
Transparency becomes white
JPG doesn’t support transparency. Transparent areas of your PNG are filled with white. If you need to keep transparency at a small file size, choose WebP instead.
Which quality?
A quality of 85–90 is visually almost identical to the original for photos. For screenshots with sharp text, a higher quality (90–95) avoids visible blurring around letters – or keep those as PNG.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to a transparent background?
It becomes white, because JPG cannot store transparency. Use WebP if you need transparency and a small file.
How much smaller does the image get?
For photos, typically 70–90% smaller. Simple graphics with few colours may shrink less.
