How to use the PNG to WebP
- 1 Choose the output format (JPG, PNG or WebP) and, for JPG and WebP, the quality.
- 2 Optionally make the images smaller: after you add an image, its width and height are filled in – lower one and the other follows to keep the aspect ratio.
- 3 Drop your images on the page and download them one by one or all at once as a ZIP file.
The best of both worlds
PNG supports transparency but produces large files; JPG is small but has no transparency. WebP offers both: transparent graphics and photos at a fraction of the PNG file size – often 50–80% smaller.
Ideal for websites
Product photos with transparent backgrounds, logos, illustrations and screenshots load much faster as WebP. That improves page speed and Core Web Vitals.
Lossy or near-lossless?
At quality 90–100 WebP keeps graphics crisp; at 75–85 photos become very small with little visible difference. Try a few settings – the size after conversion is shown next to each file.
Frequently asked questions
Does WebP keep the transparent background of my PNG?
Yes. WebP supports transparency, so transparent areas stay transparent.
How much smaller will my PNG be as WebP?
Often 50–80% for photos and detailed images; simple graphics shrink less.
