Sync settings

Choose what your account keeps in step on every device where you are signed in.

  • My tools

Always synced: the tools on your board, their order and size.

  • The windows open on your start page, including what you typed in them.

  • Every note in the notepad – on the notepad page, on your board and in windows.

  • Every list of website shortcuts – on the shortcuts page, on your board and in windows.

  • Every grid in the cover grid maker – on its page, on your board and in windows.

  • Every list of bookmarked organisations in the OIN lookup – on its page, on your board and in windows.

  • Keeps your pipeline and saved recipes on all your devices. Your files are never synced – only the steps and settings.

Turning something off removes it from your account straight away. Your devices keep their own copy.

Notifications

Tools that can tell you about something new while a Synsi tab is open, even when you are in another tab or app. Choose them for this browser.

This browser cannot show notifications from websites.
Notifications are blocked for this site. Allow them in your browser’s site settings (the icon left of the address), then switch them on here.
  • Says “New message” while a Synsi tab is open – never who wrote it or what.

Your choice is stored in this browser only. Notifications never show personal content such as a message or a number. They work while a Synsi tab is open; closed tabs get none.

Data Studio: clean, convert, merge and compare your data

Add a file, build a pipeline of steps, check the preview after each one and export the result. Your files never leave your browser.

How to use the Data Studio

  1. 1 Drop one or more files on the studio, or paste text. CSV, TSV, TXT, Markdown, JSON, XML and Excel (.xlsx) are supported.
  2. 2 Check how the file was read under Source – the encoding and delimiter are detected, and you can change them.
  3. 3 Add steps such as removing duplicates, merging files or flattening JSON. The preview shows the data before and after every step.
  4. 4 Export as CSV, Excel, JSON, XML, Markdown or text. Save the steps as a recipe to run the same clean-up next time.

One workspace instead of ten tools

Cleaning a file usually takes several small jobs: fix the encoding, drop the empty rows, remove duplicates, merge it with another file, convert the result. In the Data Studio these are steps in one pipeline. Each step works on the result of the one before it, so you never download an intermediate file and upload it again.

Every step has a preview. Select a step to see the data before and after it, how many rows changed, and anything the step could not keep – for example a null that became an empty cell. Steps only connect when their data fits: a table step cannot be added after a JSON step until you have converted the JSON into a table.

What it can do

  • Tables and CSV: detect and change the delimiter and character encoding, clean column names, select, rename and reorder columns, remove blank rows and columns, remove duplicates, filter, sort, split and combine columns, convert European number formats, restore leading zeros.
  • Several files: merge files with different columns, join on a key, compare two tables.
  • JSON and XML: format, flatten into a table, rebuild nested JSON, validate against a JSON Schema, compare ignoring volatile fields, convert between XML and JSON.
  • Text: clean spaces and line breaks, turn text into a table, extract fields from text, compare two texts, convert plain text to Markdown.

Private by design

The files are read and transformed by code that runs in your browser, in a background worker. Nothing is uploaded. Only the steps you choose are remembered, on this device, and – if you turn it on in your account – on your other devices. The files themselves are never synced.

Limits

Files can be up to 25 MB each and 100 MB in the workspace. PDF and Word files are not supported yet. Everything is converted exactly as far as the target format allows; when a step cannot keep something, it says so.

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded?

No. The studio reads and transforms your files in your browser. There is no upload and no server-side copy.

What file types can I open?

CSV, TSV, TXT, Markdown, JSON, XML and Excel (.xlsx). PDF and Word files are not supported yet.

Do I need an account?

No. Everything works without one. An account only adds saving results to My files and syncing your saved recipes between devices.

Can I repeat the same clean-up on next month’s file?

Yes. Save the pipeline as a recipe and load it again; add the new file and the same steps run on it.
