How to use the Remove Blank Lines
- 1 Paste the text with “Paste text”, or drop a file.
- 2 In the step, “Blank lines” is set to remove all. Choose “Keep one between paragraphs” to remove only the extra ones.
- 3 Check the count of removed lines.
- 4 Copy the result or download it.
Two kinds of “remove”
Removing all blank lines packs a list tightly: a list of names, one per line, comes out without gaps. Removing only the extra blank lines – collapsing runs of blanks to a single one – keeps paragraphs separate but fixes the double and triple gaps that exports and copy-paste create. Pick whichever you mean; they are one setting.
A line that only has spaces or tabs counts as blank. Windows (\r\n) and Unix line endings are both handled, and the result uses the one you choose, LF by default.
Leaves the rest alone
This page starts with only the blank-line option on: spaces inside lines, indentation and invisible characters are left as they are. Open the step’s settings to turn on more of the clean-up, or see cleaning up text formatting for hard-wrapped and hyphenated text.

Limits
Files up to 25 MB. Lines inside a quoted CSV field are not treated specially: for CSV data, use “Remove empty rows and columns” in the studio instead.
Frequently asked questions
Does a line with only spaces count as blank?
Yes. Lines with only spaces or tabs are removed as well.
How do I keep paragraph spacing?
Set “Blank lines” to keep one between paragraphs. Runs of blank lines collapse to one.
Does it work on CSV files?
It treats the file as text. For tables, use the step that removes empty rows and columns.
